Day boat hire
Hire a boat for the day from Bradford on Avon Marina and enjoy a peaceful cruise along the Kennet & Avon Canal, with friends, family or colleagues. You don’t need a licence to steer a canal boat and we provide tuition as part of our hire fee.
You can either head west through the beautiful wooded Avon Valley to Brassknocker Basin, passing over the magnificent Bath stone aqueducts at Avoncliff and Dundas along the way. You can stop off at the canalside Cross Guns pub next to Avoncliff Aqueduct or the Angelfish Restaurant at Brassknocker Basin. The journey from our Bradford on Avon day boat hire centre to Brassknocker Basin and back takes around five hours. There’s just one lock to pass through each way.
Or you can head east through the Wiltshire countryside to Semington, passing the canalside King’s Arms at Hilperton along the way. The journey to Semington and back takes around four hours.
Our four day boats at Bradford on Avon can carry up to 10 people each. They’re equipped with a gas hob, fridge or electric cool box, and toilet. There’s indoor and outdoor seating.
Weekday prices are £185, weekends and bank holidays £199 per day. Day boat hire times are from 9am to 4pm.
Holiday hire
We also offer holiday boat hire, with a range of narrowboats offering accommodation for between two and ten people.
On a short break from Bradford on Avon you can head west to Bath and back, cruising across the impressive Bath stone aqueducts at Avoncliff and Dundas.
Or you can head east to Devizes at the base of the spectacular flight of 29 locks at Caen Hill, passing through the village of Seend and its popular canalside Barge Inn.
On a week’s holiday from Bradford on Avon you can travel up the Caen Hill Flight and continue on to Pewsey and then Great Bedwyn, passing through the beautiful Vale of Pewsey and the Savernake Forest.
On a 10-day or two-week holiday you can continue heading east to Hungerford, Newbury and the River Thames at Reading.
2024 hire prices start at £1,046 for a short break (three or four nights) on a boat for two, £1,220 for a week. Tuition is provided.
