Want to visit that obscure museum nobody’s ever heard of and the bus doesn’t quite get there? Fancy going to an English wine tasting? Planning a romantic meal out? At some point during your journey, a reliable taxi number is bound to come in handy...When in London, you just need to raise your arm to hail an iconic black cab.

Fun fact: A black cab has a distinctive tall roof as traditionally it needed to be tall enough to accommodate a person wearing a bowler hat. 

Beyond the capital, you’ll find cab firms in all cities and towns, Bath has Roman Bath Private Hire. If you need a taxi, there are taxi offices or ranks outside the railway station and in the town or city centre (conveniently placed for after your night out). There will also be a taxi rank outside every airport. Of course you can now also book multiple taxi services direct from your smartphone - a quick Google search should reveal some local results. Ridesharing app Uber may be useful in cities.

Most villages will also have at least one taxi firm available in the area, although you will need to book these in advance as they can get booked up quickly. This is particularly the case if you are booking a taxi during a festival or event.
