As marvellous as our computers and smartphones are at delivering us useful travel information, there’s no replacement for speaking to someone face-to-face. 

Throughout the Great West Way you’ll find tourist information centres where the wise and welcoming staff will be glad to answer your questions. And no question is too crazy - they’ve heard it all. 

As proud ambassadors of the places they represent, they’ll give you thoughtful recommendations as well as any maps or leaflets you may need. They might also be able to book bus and train tickets for you, plus walking or sightseeing tours and workshops. 

Many tourist information centres also have interesting gift shops, selling books by local authors and handicrafts by talented local makers. Insider Tip: At Bristol Tourist Information Centre you can purchase the local currency, the Bristol Pound. You can spend the colourful notes in selected businesses around the city, but keep some behind as it also makes an attractive souvenir.
