About

Hello, I am Graham Horn.  In my role as a Blue Badge Tourist Guide it gives me great pleasure to help you to discover Wiltshire and its surrounding counties, Berkshire, Oxfordshire, Gloucestershire, Somerset, Dorset and Hampshire.  I am based in Royal Berkshire, so can welcome you to the delights of the Thames and Chilterns area or organise trips from that area further afield. My specialisms are history and historic towns and places, waterways, geography, transport and the countryside.

I am pleased to be an Ambassador for the Great West Way touring route from Bristol through Wiltshire and Berkshire to London.

Here is just a selection of the visits that I can offer:

Castles and palaces, churches and cathedrals.  Visit some of England's finest cathedrals and abbeys with me; Salisbury, Winchester, and Bath to name a few.  Or discover Blenheim Palace and Windsor Castle, just two of the best buildings that this country can offer.  In anticipation of the Royal Weddings, let me show you the inside of St. George's Chapel, Windsor.

By the water.  From mercantile Bristol to naval Portsmouth, via the Kennet and Avon Canal and the River Thames, I can help you discover some of the delights of this country's waterways.

Geography and landscape.  Let me use my training as a Geographer to show some of the finest landscapes that Britain has to offer; designated Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty such the North Wessex Downs, the Chiltern Hills, or the Cotswolds.  Or visit the mysterious ancient monuments in the Avebury and Stonehenge world heritage areas.

Walking Tours.  I am a qualified walk (hike) leader. I can organise specific urban and rural walking tours, of differing lengths, to match your desires and ability.  We could explore National Trails such as the ancient Ridgeway or the Thames Path, or one of a myriad of historic market towns in the area.

Regional Tours.  From my central base I can work with you to plan and guide you on days out or a series of touring days throughout Wiltshire and the surrounding counties.  Come and explore off the beaten track with me.  As a transport planner by profession, I have a wealth of knowledge on the infrastructure that moves and has moved Britain, be it the roads of the Romans, ancient drove routes, the 18th and 19th century canal system, the golden age of railways or today's intricate road network.  So using the transport of today, we can explore the journeys of the past.

I am happy to help you plan personalised tours and trips, incorporating some unknown and off-the-beaten-track places as well as the famous 'must do' locations.  I can work with groups of 2 and of 50, and everything in between, and understand the needs of wheelchair users, people with special needs and their carers.  I would love to help you all to make the most of your visit.
