Welcome to 1,100 years of history

Exciting exhibitions, thrilling tours, spellbinding storytelling workshops, corking coin hunts* – there’s something for everyone on a day out at The Royal Mint Experience. You’ll never look at the coins in your pocket in the same way again.

Unlock 1,100 years of history at the UK’s oldest mint. See the skill and craftsmanship that go into making the coins in your pocket.

Your visit will start where we take you behind the scenes on our award winning guided tour. Experience our circulating coin factory creating coins for the UK or one of our partner countries right in from of your eyes. Hear the fascinating process that goes in to making every coin created right here at The Royal Mint

General tours include a visit to The Royal Mint Exhibition, an exciting treasure trove of precious historical coins and rare artefacts. Learn all about our past steeped in history dating right back to around 886AD starting at The Tower of London.

Find the Alfred the Great penny which is a staggering 1,100 years old, medals from the London 2012 Olympics, the UK’s first Sovereign from 1489 and much more.

Our exhibition is ever changing with temporary exhibitions to celebrate major events in UK history happening all the time, keep an eye on our social or website for what is new.

Strike your own coin - Start your coin collection in style. Take the unique opportunity to strike your very own Brilliant Uncirculated coin*, in the very mint where the highest quality coins and medals are made for collectors all over the world

Don’t miss our amazing events throughout the year, with events like Markets at the Mint, where you can pick up some wonderful Welsh crafts or food made right here in the local area – Available the last Saturday of every month or join us during school holidays where we offer something different each term.

Our most magical experience is Christmas. The Royal Mint transforms in to a spectacular winter wonderland, Covered in snow. You will find over 40 Christmas trees, 1000’s of festive lights, decorations and not forgetting the main event itself, Santa! Who has made our factory his home, we guarantee you a visit like no other.

We are home to the only official Royal Mint Gift Shop, Stocking a large range of Royal Mint products as well as some wonderful gifts and souvenirs…………. Who does not love a magnet? 

Whether you want to treat yourself to a decadent afternoon tea, or grab a quick, tasty bite before or after your tour, you’ll find something for everyone at The Royal Mint Café.
