This summer, Bristol Old Vic Theatre School beckons aspiring actors to immerse themselves in a series of intensive short courses tailored to refine and expand their craft. Open to individuals aged 18 and above, whether they're novices exploring acting as a passion or seasoned professionals seeking to hone their skills, these courses offer a dynamic opportunity for growth and enrichment.
The Mastering Shakespeare programme, scheduled from Monday, July 15th, to Friday, July 19th, 2024, invites participants to delve into the intricacies of classical texts. Designed for intermediate-level actors, aged 18 and above, this five-day course delves deep into the essential elements of classical text performance. From linguistic nuances to vocal techniques, character psychology, physicality, and movement, participants will explore a comprehensive array of skills essential for bringing Shakespeare texts to life.
The course structure encompasses practical scene work, allowing participants to apply acquired techniques to both individual monologues and ensemble scenes. The culmination of the course is a final showcase, providing a supportive platform for participants to demonstrate their newfound skills with confidence.
While this course builds upon the foundational knowledge imparted in the beginner-level Acting for Classical Text course held in April 2024, attendance in the introductory course is not mandatory. Those with a proficient understanding of performing classical texts are warmly encouraged to enroll directly in the intermediate course.
At Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, participants can expect a nurturing and engaging environment where they can cultivate their talents and bolster their confidence under the guidance of experienced tutors and supportive peers.
