This summer, Bristol Old Vic Theatre School extends an invitation to individuals aged 18 and above to partake in their series of intensive short courses, meticulously crafted to refine and enhance acting skills. Whether you're embarking on your acting journey or a seasoned professional seeking fresh insights, these courses provide a vibrant platform for growth and enrichment.
The Acting for Contemporary Theatre course, slated from Monday, July 22nd, to Friday, July 26th, 2024, caters to intermediate-level actors, aged 18 and above, eager to delve into the complexities of modern scripts. With a focus on realism and authenticity, participants will delve into the nuances of contemporary performances, refining their ability to analyze scripts, deliver naturalistic dialogue, and explore character psychology.
Throughout the course, participants will engage in immersive scene work from contemporary plays, emphasizing interaction with fellow actors and the exploration of emotional depth. From honing physical expression to mastering vocal delivery, every facet of contemporary performance will be explored.
The culmination of the course is a presentation of individual scenes and an ensemble showcase, providing participants with a platform to demonstrate their newfound skills in a supportive environment.
While this course builds upon the foundational knowledge imparted in the beginner-level Acting for Contemporary Theatre course held in April 2024, attendance in the introductory course is not mandatory. Those with a proficient understanding of performing contemporary texts are encouraged to enroll directly in the intermediate course.
At Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, participants can expect a stimulating and nurturing environment, where they can unlock their creative potential and bolster their confidence with the guidance of experienced tutors and supportive peers.
