Yattendon is a historic village in West Berkshire, on the route of the Great West Way. Here you will find historic houses as well as welcoming village amenities including pubs, a shop and a cafe.
Surrounded by lovely English countryside, there are also many beautiful walks to enjoy from the village. Most of Yattendon village and the surrounding land belongs to the 9,000-acre Yattendon Estate, which maintains a network of local footpaths and bridleways for visitors and locals to enjoy, making this an ideal stopping point on your Great West Way adventure.
Yattendon is also just a twenty-minute drive from the pretty market town of Newbury, boasting vibrant cafes and pubs, canalside walks, historic streets, a monthly market and more. Slightly further afield is Reading where you can enjoy the urban side of the Great West Way with great shopping, luxury hotels, and fascinating museums.
Surrounding Countryside
Situated within the North Wessex Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Yattendon is surrounded by lovely quintessentially English countryside. You can easily walk out from Yattendon village to enjoy these bucolic landscapes for a morning or afternoon stroll. For a longer walk, the Ridgeway passes nearby; this long-distance National Trail follows one of England's oldest roads and traces a route through the landscapes of the Great West Way for nearly 90 miles. It can be joined around 6 miles away from Yattendon.
